Faster and Faster

Everything is going faster and faster and I swear I feel like a child on a spinning merry go round, hanging on to the cold, worn pipe handles and praying for all I'm worth that I won't be flung off. If I hit the ground at this speed I know it will hurt like never before. Hang on ya old alley cat, this is no time to chew on your claws...you need 'em!

The holidays were good and bad and all between. I'm sorry they're gone so quickly.
  • My Dad was with us for a while. . . never long enough.
  • I missed my Mom. Crying always startles me when it hits.
  • We all ate too much -killed several fatted calves in celebration of the season and Dad and for the love of eating.
  • My sweetheart had a flu/cold/sinus infection progression that is trying to circle back on him this week. I wish I could shake a gnu's tail at him so he would feel good-and it would stick.
  • I relaxed and did mindless things like knitting in garter stitch and jigsaw puzzles til midnight with Dad. Core healing. No school. No work politics.

Mid January found a quick run to Florida. I found out I had a sinus infection AS WELL AS an ear infection 2 days before we flew. 5 scripts later found the flight experience uniquely painful but I survived. It was worth it to tell Grandmother I love her in person, and see Epcot for my first Disney exposure. I cried when I left her this time. I hope that was just stress and not a premonition.

As for now . . .

  • Working too much - picking up too many other people's dropped balls.
  • School is sitting on my head like a petulant gorilla.
  • Practicum looks like it may be fun although I may end up giving more than getting in.so.far.as the learning process. I am considered an intern. Mmmmm, not quite what I had in mind but might actually be to my benefit in the overloaded emotional sense.
  • My year and a half long, work related, agony may be taking (what appears to be) a marvelous turn for the better. Miracles never cease! Let's hold our breath together, shall we?
  • I did a historical art lecture/presentation yesterday for a library other than my own that landed me on local TV for my 7 minutes of fame . . . and I am still stunned.

So, onward I go. Tomorrow I work 8 to 12 at place one, and 12:30 to 9 at place two. . . 12 hour days are sooo fun. Tonight I go to spend obseeene amounts of money on textbooks at a local book joint because the prof didn't want us to know what books they were using until they threw the switch. Thanks! Then, Wednesday I go to an all day meeting that cannot unfold well ...and could be quite stressful... and yet I look forward to it. What? Oh well.

Fiddle dee dee....tomorrow is another day.

OOh, no fun being sick, even worse that both of you had/have it, and totally apocalyptic to have to fly while sick!! Bummer. Hope you're (both) all better soon.

Uhm, said meeting...found out at 4 that my boss is leading it, God help her! Be kind (as you always are), and quiet, and know that I am thinking about you and wishing for the best possible outcomes.
